wool and more wool

We were doing some clearing up in the loft today. We live in a bungalow which has a huge loft.We have had a staircase put in and in 3 weeks time we are having the conversion finished. It will give us a 4th bedroom ,a huge open area and we are also having a toilet up there. There is a nice little area which I am hoping to claim as a craft area.Wouldn't that be great to have all my craft stuff together.
Anyway while we were up there sorting I kept finding bags of wool.C kept saying "more wool","yet more wool".What can I do with it all?it seems a shame to just throw it away. Some I will keep to make afghans ,toys, dolls clothes etc but what about the rest.Does anyone know any charity or organisation that could use it?Ideas welcomed.

  1. Ha Ha Ha! My hubbie says the same when he goes in the wardrobe! Mine is even vacuum packed so it doesn't look as much =D I did have a sort out though and found a lot of 'fun fur' novelty stuff I no longer wanted & my local Help the Aged shop were really grateful for it and I took some into a residential home in the town along with some of those 'free gift' needles you get on magazines. They were really pleased with it and said wool was always welcome. Hope that helps!

  2. Oh no! You mustn't throw wool away! Maybe I could exchange it for the painting you like? I've just listed it on Ebay if you'd like to see :)xx

  3. I noticed an add in our local paper a week or two ago for a knit and chat group at a local church hall - they were actually asking for volunteers to help with knitting and also chatting and making tea - if you had something like that in your town maybe they would like some wool for people to practice with?

  4. I've seen lots of letters in the various knitting magazines, asking for donations of yarn for various charities. Or you could sell some of it on EBay. Or you could take piccies of it and we could all do swappsies !!!
