Do you know anyone who has had the vaccination in the UK?

As,on here, we come from various parts of the UK I thought it would be interesting to know if the vaccine is being rolled out or is it more lies. My brother who is 81 and very fit,no underlying health problems, had his first jab on Dec 20th.He lives on the Fylde and had his jab at the hospital in Blackpool. He was offered a second but then that offer was recinded. He is quite happy about that. We are very worried here in NE Wales.Numbers here are rocketing. We have been in lockdown since Dec 20th so why are the numbers rising so fast?Xmas, maybe.Very scary.Weare staying in,may have a short walk from the house but nothing else.Anything delivered in wiped down and/or left for several days.We don't know or have heard of anyone here getting the vaccine. Stay safe.xxx

  1. So far only NHS staff have that I have come across. I am 71 and in the vulnerable category. Nothing yet.

  2. Yes, vaccination is under way in West Wiltshire for the over 80s. My friend's mother will have hers tomorrow. I didn't hear the full news item but there was an announcement that Ashton Gate Stadium in Bristol will start mass vaccinations in about 10 days. The army has been deployed to prepare the grounds for this.

  4. It can take up to two weeks for infections to show so I guess the increasing rate is pre and over Christmas infections. Hoping it starts going down soon and that you hear about your vaccination.

  5. I don't know anyone who has had either the virus or the vaccine. We have a friend in his late 70s who has COPD and another of the same age who had treatment for cancer through last year both of whom will I think be the first in our group of friends to get their vaccinations. It's a very worrying time at the moment. Take care:)

  6. I know it is very scary the numbers are rising fast in NE England where I am too it's because of the new variant and now also because of Christmas of course. One of my friends received the vaccine just before Christmas and she's 80 but as yet she's the only one I know of. I went to Aldi yesterday and it was packed and no one inside seemed to be in the slightest bit concerned about keeping a distance, I was in and out as fast as I was able, lets hope we all get our vaccines asap. Stay safe xx

  7. My parents are in their mid eighties and my father has chronic respiratory problems. They had their jabs in an NHS hospital in S.E London one week after the first woman in Coventry. Today they get their second jab. I think a lot of it is down to logistics and storing the vaccine to whether or not you get offered it.

  8. I've had the first dose of the vaccine (the Pfizer BioNTech one) here in Powys and my 91 year old Nan has had hers over the border in Shropshire.
