Cross stitch

I bought this cross stitch kit before Xmas.I have already done a large alphabet one and thought itwould be a good idea to do another large project while I was laid up.OMG- it is huge!!!The thinking was that I could do it a room at a time. How long it will take me to do I have no idea.
It has been great that the Australian Open tennis is on every morning so I have been watching that.I am sure you are all thinking how great -all that free time but there is a lot of pain going with it!!I am trying to get out and about. After physio today C dropped me at a local coffee shop where I met a friend and had a good natter.I was told by physio that I can use just one crutch inside which means I can carry things but still use two outside for another 4 weeks. It is written in big letters on the calendar when I can start driving again.
I have finished my first 4 squares for the mystery blanket but one is definitely not a square but a rectangle.
I am just about to finish reading The Road by Cormac McCarthy.Has anyone seen the film?I have penfriends all over the world and I have just discovered that one in Arizona has just published her first novel .I ordered it from Amazon and can't wait to read it knowing the author.

Feeling better

I have made this bracelet from a kit that my daughter bought me for Xmas and feel really pleased with it.The photo isn't too good but when you are oncrutches life is a little more difficult!

Sarah sent me beads in my Xmas box so I am now ready to get beading with those.

I have finally started my first square for the Debbie Abrahams Mysyery blanket and have 2 weeks to complete all 4 before the next batch arrives.

I am definitely feeling better.I had my staples out today, all 46 of them!!!My leg and foot are still very swollen and bruised but this it appears is quite normal.I am still having problems sleeping but a G&T helps.

I am feeling really happy tonight because I have re established contact with my only god daughter. We always exchange Xmas cards but nothing else.My OH and I were good friends of E's mum and dad but unfortunately mum became alcoholicand died and dad did not seem to want contact.I n this year's card E said she had had a baby.I promptly sent off a present and photos of our family and tonight I had a long reply plus photos of her, herhusband and the baby. Now we have e mail contact it will be so much better sending theodd message and photo.Good news.

my op

I went infor my op last Sunday.Monday morning I was all gowned up and ready to go to theatre when I heard my name.I thought it was a porter come to take me down but it was the consultant telling me the op was off, again, because "poor theatre management had not provided the correct sterile instruments".I was gutted!! He promised me it would be on Wednesday which it was ,eventually after enough theatre staff and the surgeon managed to get in through the snow.I came home on Friday and until today felt good.My whole leg is one big bruise!!Not a pretty sight at all.Hopefully I have now hit the bottom and will continue to improve each day.
Hope you are all well.I havn't musteredtoo much enthusiasm for craft work yet but did do some beading this morning.

my xmas box

Look at the contents of my box from Sarah.Brilliant.Sarah, did you make the exquisite evening bag/purse?It really is a work of art.
I love the wool and the pattern and can't wait to get started. The wool is an even lovlier colour in daylight.A soft peach colour in cashmere, alpaca andsilk.A real treat.Sarah also sent me some beads, some chocolates and a local tea towel.
Thank you so much Sarah.I really appreciate all the thought and kindness that went into assembling the box.

the box

The box arrived today.Thank you Sarah.I am saving it until Xmas Day.Sooo exciting.Hope you are getting things organised and really enjoy Xmas.As it is only the two of us and my op being postponed we are going out for Xmas dinner so I feel very relaxed. But I would rather be frazzled and with the family.

Christmas

Well, I have got overthe disappointment of my op being cancelledand have been given a new date,Jan 4th but i will only believe it when it actually happens. We had cancelled going away and had not the enthusiasm to reinstate it.We have a restaurant in our small market town that is in the Good Food Guide. They have been booked up for Xmas daysince September but when we trid them last Thursday they had had a cancellation so at least we are going out for Xmas dinner!
What I didn't get were my 3 days in hospital with nothing to do but knit and stitchso Emily's Flower Fairy won't be finished.
I have been to my Book Group this morning but because I thought Iwasn't going to be there I hadn't read the book and only managed the first 70 pages.Never mind.We were also choosing the next set of books to read. What do you think of this list?
Small Island by Andrea Levy
Amsterdam by Ian McEwan
Miss Webster and Sherif by Patricia Duckner
Red Tent by Anita Diamant
The Angel's Game by Carlos Ruiz Zafon
The Secret Scripture by Sebastian Barry
A middle ages crime story by CJ Sansom
That should keep me quiet for a bit!

I have also ordered a cross stitch kit today from sewandso.co.uk ( a brilliant company). It is of a Doll's house and is huge.So with that ,the reading and my Debbie Abrams Blanket Club I should be kept well and truly busy while I am on crutches and recovering!!!

Hope you are not getting too frazzled about Xmas.

my op

I am gutted.I jad a phone call to say my operation next Tuesday has been cancelled due to an emergency(???).I was all psyched up for it and was looking forward to 2010 with it all over with.C'est la vie(said with a sigh)
