Having completed the blankets(well almost!) for my two grandsons I have started one for my granddaughter,Ella, who is 14.She has chosen the colours from the Stylecraft Special DK range. The photo doesn't really show the colours off too well. They are turquoise, purple, mauve, teal, lilac etc.I can do a hexagon in 15 minutes and I can get 14 out of a 100g ball. They measure 5in or 12cm across so I can work out how many I need.
Should I arrange them in rows
or in flower shapes
or randomly?
Which do you think looks best?
Very Pretty. I like the flower arrangement. You are very talented and I bet your grandchildren just love their blankets.
ReplyDeleteIn a very large blanket, using a row by row color arrangement might be great...however, I would go for random every time. It's much for fun for the eye to dance around the varying colors. (And the eye always wants of simplify what it's seen, so...the more colors you can use, the better.)
ReplyDeleteYour crocheting is lovely.
Cheers!
Oooh I think random would look great - but I realise it will probably take far longer to get the 'randomness' just right! interesting to find out how many hexagons you get to a ball - great value with the Stylecraft. You must have been crocheting like the clappers! Lucky Ella x Jane
ReplyDeleteHello! Thanks for visiting me....I'm a random girl, I never really put any thought into things, it just develops organically! The photos on my post today were taken on my iPad or I use my daughters Nikon Coolpix. I'd love my own camera one day but I'm not sure what to do with it if I had one! :) x
ReplyDeleteRandom. I so wish I could crochet. Yours is lovely.
ReplyDeleteFlowers would look good if you put a couple of rows of sc in another color between the flowers to join them and give the blanket a uniform look.
ReplyDeletePersonally I like the rows... but then that is me craving order again! Beautiful colour choices though however you decide to arrange them.
ReplyDeletePretty colours. Love your little fox too! Ros
