Tosca from NY and Habit of Art from NT.

This is what we saw last night.Tosca beamed from New York, live,to our local Film Theatre(part of Theatr Clwyd). It was amazing.I have only ever been to one opera before and that was twenty years ago.Friends asked us to go with them last night and I have to admit that neither C or I was keen. You really felt you were there and part of it.In December they are doing Falstaff, again from the Metropolitan Opera in NY.More are being done in the New Year.As well they are beaming in Corialanus from the RSC plus other Shakespeare plays.I f you have never been to anything like this I urge you to give it a go.It will be on at a film theatre near you I am sure.

Last Thursday saw us at the Film Theatre to see Habit of Art by Alan Bennet. This was a beamed in live production of this from a couple of years ago.Again ,excellent.

Next Wednesday sees us at the theatre again to see Mansfield Park. This is in the main theatre and is a visiting company.Theatre Royal from Bury St EdmundsA really cultural week for us.We are so lucky that in our small market town of 10,000 people we have this amazing theatre, just a five minute drive from our house and with free parking!!.

  1. Lovely times indeed! Thank you so much for popping into Chalky's and leaving such a kind comment about Dubai.
I love your hexagons and if you need some inspiration about colour placement have a look at Loretta Grayson's blog a box full of photographs. Random for me and her! She is inspirational with colour blending. Love linda

  4. I would be hesitant about an opera too, but would probably be pleasantly surprised! Saw AB's latest play in Norwich a few weeks ago - not one of his best in my humble opinion. Saw the play of Twelve Angry Men recently, though, and that was really good. You sound like you've really enjoyed those performances you went to! xCathy

  5. I love Opera, in fact I use to be part of the choru in Caracas Venezuela and for over 20 years I sang with the best of the best and I mean Pavarotti and Placido Domingo. I love the Met productions as well as the San Francisco Opera if you have an opportunity to go to Opera in the Park don't miss it.

  6. I would be very wary of opera, I'm afraid I would lose interest half way through. It's good to hear that you enjoyed it though.
I loved our holiday and really loved NY - such a bright vibrant place to be. I'd love to go back again sometime. :)

  7. My parents introduced me to opera when I was a child, I remember them taking me to see Tosca in Covent Garden and will never forget the lady who was sitting behind me and had a small dog hidden in her basket. It didn't make a sound throughout the performance.
A few years ago I encouraged my husband (not an opera buff) to go while on holiday, to Verona to see La Traviata. We both loved it and had a wonderful evening!
So do see more and enjoy!
