We ended up in a heap and very muddy!!!

Yesterday afternoon we decided to get some sea air and have a little.walk.We headed off to Parkgate on the Wirral and parked by the Old Baths.Off we set but it was quite a long way to a gap in the fence to get through to the footpath.C managed to get over  the fence.I got one leg over this 18 inch high fence but needed him to steady me but before he could I lost my balance and toppled to the ground taking him with me.We are both in our 70s and had to crawl to the fence to get up.There were a lot younger couple about twenty yards away but they did not come to help.Once we were upright we set off on the walk feeling very shaken but we were beaten by floods. You should have seen the state we were in.Mud everywhere. We were very lucky we didn't break anything.Imagine adding that to Mike's brain tumour and Ruby's broken shoulder. We live to tell the tale and see it as quite funny now but have learned our lesson about climbing over fences!!!!

  2. Oh, sorry, but I had to laugh. If that had been us we would still be there, we have such a job to get up these days.
Its been such a horrible day here today, thanks for the laugh.

  3. Thank goodness neither of you broke anything - and luckily mud can be dealt with! How sad that passers by didn't offer to help or show concern - there really are some useless people around it seems.
Hope all going well for your SIL and granddaughter - not a very good start to this new year. Hang in there and know you are in my thoughts and that hopefully better days, and weather, are ahead.

  4. Glad to hear you didn't break any bones and were able to pick yourselves up. It could have been much worse so maybe it's a sign that your luck has changed for the better. I do hope so x

  7. Oh my! You two need to be careful. A shame that the young couple either didn't pay attention or couldn't bother themselves. Glad you are both okay.

  8. What a shame the younger ones didn't come and offer help, or even ask if you were both ok.
Good that you were not hurt, hope you are not too bruised and sore either.

  9. We are also in our mid/late 70's and think that we can jump, stretch and bend as if we were twenty until our bodies remind us otherwise! Good job you fell on mud, it is so much more forgiving than a hard surface. I would console myself with the thought that the younger onlookers must have thought you looked fit and well enough to get yourselves up - which you did! (However, it would have been much nicer if they had offered to help.)

  10. Oh my.. I can so relate to the fence topple.. we'd have had a hard time getting back up too. Please be more careful! I am shocked by the young folk not helping you. ::sigh::
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)

  12. YIKES! Sorry about the fall and how horrible no one came to help. What is wrong with people. Glad you're not hurt, but have a feeling you may feel it more the day after. Often that happens.

  13. Oops !! sounds bad, but happy that you both are safe and out of danger . Good that you both dealt it so peacefully, sad that no one came for your help, pity on such people. Sometimes I feel society is lacking humanity and everyone is trying to be safe in their own nests. Glad !!! you learned from your experience. Take care of yourself. Stay Blessed !!!

  14. Gee! That's bad. But you are fortunate not to have hurt yourselves. My wife wasn't so lucky. The other day, she she was returning from the Music Institute Coimbatore and her bike skid on a patch of loose sand. The passers-by were quick to help but she ended up with a sprained ankle.
